Welsh Masters Success for TeamCameron

Over the Easter weekend, over 1000 horses from across Great Britain and Europe entered the Welsh Masters at the David Broome Event Centre in Chepstow.

Local competitor, Maddy Cameron from Wall near Hayle, who is sponsored by The Old Quay House in Hayle, enjoyed a very successful weekend of show jumping, with horses Regalo Debonair (Enzo) and King Harry (Harry).

She placed an outstanding 4th in the British Novice Class riding Enzo, followed by 5th on Friday and then finished on a high on the Saturday, placing 3rd in the 1 meter Scope qualifier, which has ensured them a place at the Scope Festival in Liverpool later this year.

She also had unexpected success with ‘Harry’, having newly loaned him from K. Gason just 6 weeks ago.  Out of over 100 entries into the Deebee’s Rosettes 1.05m package, which included three qualifiers to ensure a place in the final on Sunday, they qualified 19th on the first day, followed by 14th on the second day, with both results confirming their place in the final.

Maddy said “I was extremely overwhelmed when we placed in almost every class we rode in.  I wanted to go to the Welsh Masters to have fun and gain experience with both horses, and to have got through to the final jump off with Harry was amazing.”

“Harry is the perfect horse to help me progress into Senior British Show Jumping.  He’s got good experience around bigger courses and knows his job inside and out and I am looking forward to seeing where this season takes us.”
